In late 2010, we completed a project for a large health system in the Northeast. The system initially engaged us to help them understand their capacity to build a replacement hospital for one of their existing facilities. After our demand forecasts showed the project could be feasible, we met with state officials, and worked with the client's attorneys and in-house staff, to develop arguments and a project narrative for the state's Certificate of Need process. We argued that "right-sizing" the hospital and its complement outpatient services would benefit the community and ensure services would be provided locally whenever appropriate.
We were thrilled to learn recently that our hard work paid off and the state has approved the project.
